Going Beyond Words
           with
Stanley Schmidt

Here is what the listeners of Going Beyond Words have to say
about the program:

“Going Beyond Words speaks timelessly to a diverse public in weekly celebration of the beauty of the human voice. It is “soul” music for the choral musician and a vibrant advocate for all that is great in (great) singing.”

Another listener states: "Through Going Beyond Words, Stan Schmidt enriches lives every week. His program educates and entertains, intellectually stimulates and touches the spirit. It provides breadth of experience and furthers depth of understanding. With a thematic approach served by its host’s through knowledge, unique insight, genuine enthusiasm, and gentle strong presentation, Going Beyond Words advances the cause of choral music and classical music as it speaks to the human condition."

Most KVNO-FM listeners probably associate Stan’s voice with the Londonderry Air, which he uses as his theme music for Going Beyond Words – airing every Sunday at 7:00 A.M. (central time) on 90.7FM. Since 1994 Schmidt has been presenting this program dedicated to the vocal and choral art. “Omaha is a real center for choral music, which seven or eight groups,” he said. “My goal for Going Beyond Words is to make the show interesting for those who know the music well while making it accessible to those listeners not as familiar with choral music.”

Stan has been bringing the music and the audience together in Omaha for over 24 years, first as Associate Conductor for the Voices of Mel Olson (now the MasterSingers), then as Artistic Director of the Clarion Chamber Chorale. John Rutter wrote his Gloria for the Voices of Mel Olson in 1974. Stan was President of CollegiumUSA.com from 1984 through 2007 and the founder of Clarion Records, a label for the purpose of showcasing the great choral recordings from the past and providing contemporary choirs with a vehicle to promote their own recordings.
